Beaujolais
The Beaujolais wine region is situated between the Rhône and Burgundy wine regions. The Nizerand River naturally divides the Beaujolais wine region into the Crus and Beaujolais Villages to the North of the river and Beaujolais Nouveau in the south. The region is known for its red wines made with Gamay grape, which lends Beaujolais wines an exceptionally fresh and fruity flavour. There is also 1% of white is made from Chardonnay and there are some delightful rosés (Domaine Perol).

Domaine Perol

The Perol family are originally cattle farmers since 1806. The first vine was planted in 1912. The winery is base near Chatillon, 30km south of Villefranche sur Soane. Anthony is the 5th generation and is now in charged of the 25 hectares vineyard. Fully organic and certified with “Ecocert” since 2005 and biodynamic techniques are used as well but no certification at this point of time. The average density in the vineyard is 8000 vines/hectares. Unlike most winemakers in the region, Anthony also produces a white from Chardonnay, a red and rose Syrah.
