Savoie
Savoie is a wine region east of Beaujolais near the Swiss border, between Grenoble and Geneva. It is mountainous area where winemakers have adapted to this environment, growing sometimes on steep slopes and high altitudes.
The Savoie region produces 23 different grape varietals including Altesse, Jacquere in white. The well know red varietals are Gamay, Pinot Noir and Mondeuse. The high altitude of the vineyards produces wines that are fresh, vibrant and low in alcohol.
