Domaine Bregeon

The winery is based 30mn drive south-east of Nantes town, near Clisson Village one of the Cru Classe from the Muscadet region. The origine of the estate dated back in 1880. Michel Bregeon is one of the pioneers of high quality Muscadet winemaker took over in 1975 a small 2.5 hectares vineyard, and today the state reach a total of 8.5 hectares. In 2011 Fred Lallier a local is taking over Michel’s vineyard who’s passing on his knowledge and skills of the characteristics of the soils to Fred. Actually when I met Fred last year Michel wasn’t farway has he was tasting with us and talking about stories from the winery.

The winery is planting of 90% Melon de Bourgogne and 10% Gros Plant. With an average of 65 years old, and a density of 6500 vines/hectares. The main characteristic of the white Muscadet is the age on lees. “Sur Lie” technic that consist in ageing without separating it from its lees, it adds roundness, complexity with great cellaring potential and without the use of Oak maturation at all.
